The 6th Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) Declared in Doncaster.
Doncaster Council declared the 6th area in the borough as an AQMA in December following monitoring over a number of years. The area exceeds the annual average objectives laid out for nitrogen dioxide. The area is close to the A1 in Skellow. Air Quality linked to higher risk of Lung Cancer and heart failure.
Further studies have again linked poor air quality with increased health risks. These latest reports have linked levels of particulate pollution with a higher risk of lung cancer. Both studies were published in The Lancet and the article from The Guardian summerises the findings.
