A Clearer Future Conference 2010
Wednesday 22nd September
The Hilton Hotel, Sheffield

Hosted by Care4Air, the sixth annual Clearer Future Conference will be held on Wednesday 22nd September at the Hilton Hotel, Sheffield.

This year's conference will aim to address key issues around meeting air quality targets in 2015 and beyond. The event will focus on what has/hasn't worked so far, aswell as looking at the recent report issued by the House of Commons Environmental Committee, which concludes that poor air quality in the UK causes more deaths and serious illness than passive smoking, road traffic accidents and obesity. The conference will look at how local authorities should respond to this and what needs to be done to comply with directives.

Keynote speaker, Tim Chatterton, Air Quality Management Resource Centre, will begin the day by looking at the reasons why we have failed to achieve significant improvements in air quality over the last decade and the lessons we need to learn from this in order to meet the environmental and public health challenges facing us through the rest of this century. Speakers also include Iain Forbes, Department for Transport, Robert Vaughan, DEFRA, Simon Birkett, Campaign for Clean Air in London and others soon to be confirmed.

The event will look to bring together planners, health professionals, environmental officers, consultants, and those with an interest in clean air and carbon reduction to encourage networking, cross communication and highlight best practice.
